Happy families: Brian Austin Green, Megan Fox and Green's son Kassius (far left) visit a Toronto museum this weekend
She may be just 24 years old but Megan Fox has got step-parenting down to a tee, according to her husband Brian Austin Green.
‘She is absolutely my better half in parenting,’ Green tells Details Magazine in a new interview.‘She just gets it. It's instinctual for her.'
The Transformers star is step mum to Green’s eight-year-old son Kassius - the trio were out last weekend in Toronto, where Fox was promoting her new film Passion Play.
'She loves my son, Kassius. And from the time we started dating — she was 18—she stepped in and took control. It's unbelievable,' Green tells the magazine.
The actor, who found fame in the 1990s on teen TV show Beverly Hills 90210, says Megan’s fame can be tough going for the couple.
‘It wasn’t so much of a problem before Megan, but once Transformers hit, that was it,’ he says.
‘I had never experienced paparazzi on that level, because during 90210 they were still developing pictures and selling them by hand. It was a whole different experience.
‘Now we sit and we share stories, and we've found the commonality of it all,' adds Green, who married Fox in Hawaii back in June.
Hats away: Fox and Green wore baseball caps and casual clothes as Fox took a break from promoting her forthcoming film Passion Play
'It's the most backwards, f****d-up love story you've ever heard. And it worked.
'And the day that I said, "I do," I've never been more sure of anything in my life. And it was the absolute perfect start to what we hope will be an amazing life together.’
The actor credits Fox with ‘boosting his confidence’ after he separated from Kassius’s mother, actress Vanessa Marcil.
‘A relationship was the last thing on my mind. It's not something I ever thought would be serious,' he says.
'But she brought out parts of me that I had lost in my last relationship. And at the same time, I was somebody responsible and grounded for her to be around. We just matched.’
TV star: The actor plays a handyman and character Bree's love interest in the new season of TV hit Desperate Housewives
Since then, Fox's star has continued to rise with her roles in the two Transformers films, although Green has just landed a guest role as a handyman and love interest to Bree in the new season of Desperate Housewives.
'I know the normal male thing is the man works and is successful and brings home the pay cheque. It’s what people expect,' says Green.
'I just don’t care. I hated being famous during 90210. I'm not an extrovert. I'm 37. I have a beautiful wife. I have an amazing eight -year-old son.
'I love acting, but this is just my job. F***, next year I could book some crazy movie that blows up and things could shift completely. And I guarantee you at that point she’ll say, "Thank God. You go do all that s*** now. I’m sick of it."'
